My first experience with the cards called the Gypsy Witch Deck was seeing them on a swaps table at a conference a few years ago. I picked them up out of curiosity and my feelings about the box, cover image and the title was not favourable (i'm still not a fan) however I did find the cards inside intriguing but I put them back and moved on. Some people dislike the artwork and colouration of the images on the front of the cards however I find them charming, but I don't much care for the design on the back of the cards.
A couple of years later they came back into my awareness when they made an appearance at the World Divination Association Conference in the hands of Brant Williams. My friend Alison Cross treated me to a copy of the deck and we both threw ourselves into the course which was offered at the time while messaging each other with questions and mini readings in our efforts to get the hang of it.
We wanted to learn more and so it was a pleasant surprise to learn that a book was on its way from U.S. Games Sytems Inc, written by Fabio Vinago.
After what seemed like ages and ages of waiting the book finally arrived through the letter-flap on Friday. The book and deck combination kit was available in the UK earlier than the book on its own, which was frustrating for some of us who already had a copy of the deck but that's the way things are at the moment with supplies. I could have bought the kit (believe me the temptation was strong) but i'm in the process of trimming down my deck collection so really didn't want a second copy of the deck.
I've only had time in the two days i've had the book to briefly scan through it so I'm looking forward to sitting down with it and the cards this coming week.
Do you have this deck and book? What do you think of them?
