Deck for November 2018 - Daily Journalling

Kaleidoscope Tarot - November 2018 Daily Journalling
I spent some time this evening making notes and updating my diary pages for November. The deck I’ll be using for this month is The Ostara Tarot. I’ve not used this deck yet so I’m looking forward to seeing what it has to tell me.

Update 10 November 2018:  I've since stopped using the deck for my November draws as to be honest, we are just not getting along.  Sad but true.

A fab idea for displaying the daily card.

Whenever i've drawn my card for the day it usually spent the day propped against something on my spiritual table.  This has been fine but sometimes the card has fallen over and also the position doesn't lend itself from being seen easily.  My spiritual table is in the conservatory and faces away from the door to the rest of the house and no matter what the card rested against it just wasn't facing at the right angle to be seen as I passed by.  Then yesterday an idea pop up out of the blue, to purchase a lovely frame to sit my card within.

What's great is now it can be easily seen during the day when i'm not in the conservatory and going about my day (usually involving domestic goddess duties).  Also the frame highlights it so my eyes are drawn immediately to it from afar.  I'm really loving how special it makes the daily card feel and look.

The aperture is big enough for any of my cards to sit within and the white sheet that it came with was replaced by a blue piece from my craft stash.

You might also find this a useful addition to your spiritual or inspirational space.

Tarot for guidance at times of unease.

Life can often throw up situations in your life that you haven't yet learned how to deal with or sort through.  When this happens a person can often not know which decision to make even though they have a little voice in their mind or gut feeling of the correct action to to be taken.  Additionally they may also not want advice of friends or family, preferring to find a solution themselves as part of the growth process.

When this happens to me, I do turn to my Tarot cards for guidance, confirmation, kick up the butt or pep talk.  It's not that friends aren't available to be turned to for advice, it's more that sometimes I know deep inside what the knowledge or correct form of action to take is but I can't quite get it out or second guess myself.

This past week I have been using the Druidcraft Tarot for my readings as feel i'm needing the earthiness and stability of it and maybe also as we are entering Spring feels more in tune with my love and connection of being outdoors exploring and wandering.

This week has thrown up such a situation/an issue i've yet to get to grips with whenever it comes up.  In the past i've withdrawn but i'm fed up doing that or having the sick in my tummy feeling when it's happened.  So a card reading was needed.

Wednesday's card (the upset happened a few days earlier so i'd been gnawing at myself since then) was The Lord and the biggest sense of relief washed over me because the little voice had been telling me to stand my ground, not allow myself to feel defeated, not let this make me want to pull my head into my shell and not share anything ever again.

This was very good advice because i'd been contemplating not sharing creative offerings publicly again.  Instead, things got a spring clean, a reaffirming of my ideas and stamping my mark on my creations.  Regarding the boundary issue, again it was my sharing too easily which had been taken for granted.

How i've also looked at these experiences now is that i've perhaps been too trusting, also reserved about tooting my own horn where it matters and sharing too easily.  I'm going to keep visualising the steadfastness of The Lord image at these times, clarity of vision and integrity.

Thursday's card was The Seven of Pentacles and again some very good advice, in particular taking stock of a situation before moving forward.

Think things through before making actions which would direct me away from the direction in which I want to move in.

I'm feeling very calm today with new inspiration of what i'd like to change or try.

Journalling - What to do when you miss a day.

Life and it's events can sometimes mean that we miss out on drawing our card for the day.  Don't let this get you down or make you feel like you've missed out on a learning opportunity or message for that day.

When that happens for me this is what I do.

Just before bedtime I reflect on the day's events and whereas I would be writing down my reflections as they relate to the morning's daily card draw, instead I write about my day and the events that took place.  Then I select a card from the deck that I think best reflects the events and lessons of the day and write about why I think this, noting down any personal keywords, followed by keywords from the reference book.  In effect you would be working in reverse to the usual daily journaling process but it is just as effective.

Journalling - Writing about your Daily Card - a Beginner's Template

Good morning.  Here is the layout for how I started out journalling my daily card.  You may like to follow this format initially but then find as you go on you want to change it here and there to fit better for you. The way I journal now is slightly different however this template gave me a good grounding and prompted me to think through things in a clear routine .  I'd love to hear how you work with this beginner's template and how you have changed it to become yours.

Doing your Daily Card Reading

A long time back when I first decided on drawing a card for the day, the setting of the scene and having a ritual was something that I thought had to be done.  Sadly it proved to be cumbersome and so resulted in making the daily card reading and journalling time consuming which then resulted in me skipping days because I couldn't fit it in.  Nowadays i'm much more relaxed about these sorts of things and don't worry that things won't work without the rituals.  I do love a ritual and indulge in it for those special occasions where I want to luxuriate in a full spread, development time or meditation but usually for my daily card reading it is pretty simple and no fuss.

My daily card reading goes as follows:

I go to my sacred place, centre and ground myself while lighting my working candle,

unwrap the deck from it's silk scarf,

shuffle the deck then spread the cards out on the table, swirling them and mixing them until i'm ready to draw out the card that calls to me,

An alternative method which is more traditional is to shuffle the deck, then using your non dominant hand, cut the deck into three piles,

reassemble the deck in whichever order you choose and then fan the cards out,

select one for the reading.

Once ready I write in my journal using the same format as the templates shared.

Giving thanks I blow out the candle, wrap my deck except the card for the day and bring the session to a close.

You can read more about my preference for the spiral or swirled version in my blog post about shuffling and selecting cards.
