Crafting Magic

Valentine's Day Card

1 white card blank
4” x 3.5” piece purple cardstock
4” x 1” piece hot pink  cardstock
3 pink mini brads
4” length pearl strand
5” length fuchsia chiffon ribbon
4” length ivory lace
Translucent Fimo,  number 014

To make the heart:  Take a thumb sized piece of fimo and warm between
your palms for pliability.     Roll into a ball, then on a flat surface roll into
a sausage measuring 10” in length.  Cut in half, lie side by side and then
twist one pair of  ends around each other.  Bend the sections into heart shape
and then twist the remaining pair of ends around each other.  Bake as per
package instructions.
Mount three brads in a even spaced line down the left hand edge of the purple
piece.  Glue this to the front of the card.

Adhere the pink piece along the bottom edge of the purple piece, then cover the
join of these two pieces with the lace.

Using wet glue dots, attach the pearl strand across the lace.

Tie a ribbon around the heart and glue this to the card with super glue.

 Yule Cottage

Time to get those scraps of felt, threads, beads, ribbon and other fancies out and have some fun making a festive Yule Cottage.  I have called it a Yule Cottage in a gingerbread house style but really you can make it into a festive beach hut if you're in the southern hemisphere, whatever takes your fancy really.  It will make a great gift for a stitcher to use as a pincushion but equally as part of your festive scenic displays or stitch a loop to the top to hang it on you tree.

If you make some please send me some photos because it makes me smile to see them and i'll put them up on the blog gallery if you would be happy for me to do so.

To receive the template for cutting out the pieces, please use the contact form and i'll send it to you.

Round 5:
1SC into next 3 spaces; 2DC into first "V" of previous round; 1DC into next space; *2DC into next space; 1DC into next space*; repeat * to * 6 times more; 1SC into next 9 spaces; work *to * 7 times; 1SC into next four spaces, SS into first SC of round.  Join on green yarn to begin stalk.

Stalk:
Ch9, Idc into 4th chain from hook; 1DC into each chain, SS into the top of pumpkin to join, tie off.

There are a few uses..........

Make as many as you like.  Join together into a garland by crocheting a chain attaching pumpkins to the chain as you go.

Use them as coasters during the the Autumn months.

Join them in a vertical line, intermingled with wood, beads and anything else that's autumnal and hang in a window.

If you like the idea but don't crochet then why not replace the pumpkins with cutouts from felt, card stock or patterned paper and tie onto a length of ribbon.
